CUET - A highly competitive examination
The data above provides information on the number of applications received, number of seats available, and the percentage of applicants selected for admission in some of the top universities in India. CUET, a highly competitive examination, is used to determine admission into these universities. The University of Delhi, a central university, received the highest number of applications at 663,776 and admitted 10% of those applicants. Banaras Hindu University (BHU), another central university, received 434,140 applications but only admitted 2% of those applicants due to limited seats. State universities such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi received 154,232 applications but could only offer admission to less than 1% of those applicants due to the limited number of seats available. Private universities such as IIMT University, on the other hand, did not specify the number of seats available for admission. The data highlights the intense competition for admission into top universities in India and the need for students to prepare adequately for the CUET examination.

For the year 2022, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) saw 14.9 lakh student applications. However, only around 65% or 9.7 lakh students appeared for the test, and out of those, only roughly 19% or 1.8 lakh students managed to secure a seat.
The top 5 subjects in which the maximum number of students took the test have been identified, and the scores required to be in the 95th percentile have been determined. For instance, students who scored 95 percentile in English last year had to score 92.5% or more in that subject. Similarly, those who scored 52.5% marks in the General Test were in the top 95 percentile. In Chemistry, students who scored 64.5% were in the top 95 percentile, while those who scored 51.5% in Mathematics were also in the top 95 percentile. Lastly, those who scored 71.3% in Physics were in the top 95 percentile. In essence, this information highlights the minimum scores required to be in the top 5% of test-takers in these subjects. It could be useful for students who are preparing for the test and want to aim for the top percentile. However, it is important to note that the minimum score required for the top 5% could vary each year depending on the performance of test-takers, and therefore, it is essential to focus on achieving the highest possible score.
